2023 has been a year of many achievements for Margaret & Emma organization. Opening a crafts shop has been one of these many achievements!

After the Covid-19 pandemic affected our international market for handmade crafts, we have not been able to export, which set back progress, and hurt our many rural artisans. We kept our beautiful products under lock and key for the past three years without knowing what to do next.

Luckly, we rented a spacious office space with four store-fronts along the road. This has given us the chance to open a crafts shop where we can display and sell the wonderful products made by the women. We have advised the women artisans to make crafts that are demanded by the local market here in Uganda for the time being. Among these we have plastic tote baskets that are commonly used as shopping bags, as well as fruit baskets that are very affordable and much easier to make.

We look forward to seeking partnerships with tourist hotels come 2024 through which we shall be able to increase the crafts sales.
