Strong communities are built on the foundation of active, empowered groups. At Margaret & Emma Organization, our women groups initiatives are at the heart of our mission, fostering financial independence, social inclusion, and community resilience.

Spotlight on Our Women Groups
Igabiro Women’s Development Group (Mwanjari): With 30 dedicated members, this group has successfully resumed its savings and credit project, a critical tool for financial stewardship. Their ambitious plans to learn liquid soap making and launch a rainwater harvesting project (with a target of acquiring a 200-liter tank per member by year’s end) are transforming their households and communities.

Kikungiri PWD Development Group:
Serving 20 members, including 10 families residing in a community shelter, this group is formalizing its association by registering as a Community-Based Organization (CBO). This legal backing will protect their shared resources and pave the way to relaunch their crafts and bakery operations.

St. Leticia Women’s Development Group: With 30 members, 10 of whom are already operating tailoring businesses, this group is saving diligently to construct a multi-functional shelter. This planned facility will serve as both a workspace, craft center in Kihihi town and community hub, reinforcing our mission to build better, safer communities.
Skilling Ikumba: In a bid to promote true inclusivity, this group has incorporated eight male youth among its 30 members. Their recent baking training embodies the inclusive spirit of gender equity while empowering future generations.
Nyamiyaga Nyaruhanga Women’s Development Group: Including 10 elderly women among its 30 members, this group’s initiation into baking training demonstrates our commitment to lifelong learning and the inclusion of all community sectors.
Impact on Community Well-being
Each of these groups contributes uniquely to community development. They offer platforms for sharing knowledge, managing finances, and supporting one another a testament to the transformative power of collective action. These initiatives directly support our vision of safe, healthy, and productive communities throughout the Kigezi sub-region.
